Don’t forget! Our 9th North Cumberland Style Hedgelaying Competition will take place next February, to both demonstrate and showcase the best of this traditional skill. As well as competing there is also the opportunity to train or just come along and watch the experts. For more information contact Graeme Proud on 016973 33055

Friday 2nd December Guided walk around Edward 1st Monument Come along and enjoy a guided history walk to the historic Edward 1st Monument near Burgh by Sands. Meet at the car park at ‘The Greyhound’ Pub in Burgh by Sands at 12.00pm. The walk will take approximately 2 hours and the terrain is uneven so please bring suitable footwear and waterproofs.
Thursday 8th December Joint RSPB - AONB Volunteers work day Meet at 9.30am at Rogersceugh Farm. The morning will involve cutting and removing small scrub and brash from the RSPB Reserve. All tools will be provided.
Please wear suitable clothing and bring a packed lunch, the event will finish about 1.00pm

Monday 9th January Milefortlet 21 footpath clearing We will be strimming and clearing the path up to the Roman Milefortlet 21. Please meet at 10.30am on the beach front Car Park on the B5300 near Crosscanonby turn off. All tools will be provided, please bring a packed lunch and suitable clothing
Friday 13th January Mawbray to West Beach Silloth Coastal Walk Join us in a healthy walk and work off the Christmas excesses! Meet at Mawbray Yard Car Park, off the B5300 at 10.30am. The walk will be approximately 3 hours, but there is the option of catching the local coastal bus in either direction. Please bring a packed lunch and appropriate walking gear. Children and dogs welcome, and invite your friends along.
Friday 20th January Bring a friend litter picking event This litter picking event will take place Mawbray Dunes and Beach. This project gives us all the opportunity to encourage a friend to join in on an environment awareness day.
We are all well aware of how important it is to improve our beaches and sand dunes and this can be quite easily achieved with a little work from us all.
The project will last for approximately two hours and commences at 10.30am. Those attending should meet at the Car Park at Mawbray Yard (beach side of the B5300)
All litter picking tools will be provided, please wear suitable clothing.
Wedneday 25th January Crosscanonby Carr Reserve workday As part of our ongoing management of this reserve we will be carrying out routine maintenance of the reserve. Please meet on site at 10.30am off the B5300. All tools will be provided, please bring a packed lunch and suitable clothing.

Friday 17th February 9th Annual AONB North Cumberland Style Hedgelaying Competition and training event We are looking for volunteers to help us set up the event on Friday 17th, and then help with car parking and stewarding during the competition day.
For your time and effort we will provide a free lunch on the event day and fuel costs.
If you are interested in being involved, please contact Rose or Graeme in the coming month.
